Your Corporate Style Refreshed: The Empowering 2024 trends to build your confidence at work.
For us, the most exciting thing about 2024 is the upcoming launch of the first Peak Women range of Confidence Blazers and Suits. Rather than focus on specific trends we have used traditional styles that incorporate practical and comfortable design elements that help you build your confidence and support you on you path to career success. However, if you are keen on upcoming trends to further bolster your corporate wardrobe the below trends we are loving that are professional, sophisticated and can easily be incorporated into any work wardrobe.
Eye-catching Florals
According to MODA fresh floral prints in the more masculine styles including suits and trousers are likely to make an impact in the first half of the year, but how much print is too much? All-over prints continue to be a popular trend, especially with striking oversized florals taking centre stage for 2024. Florals are a style that is traditionally soft and feminine however bold, over-sized florals offer a striking contrast and can represent a powerful stance towards patterns. Similar to bold colours, eye-catching, large florals draw the eye and exude feminine power in a corporate setting. The Peak Women Confidence Blazer in the Eve Print represents just this and will be available in Quarter 2 of 2024 so keep an eye out for our launch.
Pantone Colour of the Year 2024: Peach Fuzz
According to Pantone, the 2024 colour of the year is Peach Fuzz. Halfway between pink and orange, peach in a professional or traditional outfit is a great way to stand out for all the right reasons in the workplace. Its soft, delicate hues speak to feminine power without shouting from the rooftops. You don’t have to go full monochrome in Peach from head to toe if that is a bit too bright for you. Instead look for one piece that you could add into your wardrobe like a jacket or shirt. Or go for a more subtle nod to Peach by wearing accessories that can be paired with more neutral tones such as a scarf, belt, earrings or even a comfortable pair of shoes. If this is still a bit much for you, some of the WGSN fashion colours for early 2024 include Navy Blue, Plum Wine, Forest Green or Olive. These more muted tones may suit your corporate style better.
Pink Continues to Shine
2023 saw the emergence of Barbie-Core resulting in many bright pink monochrome outfits grace more than just the movie premier. Going into 2024 pink will remain a staple in our wardrobes for the foreseeable future. According to WGSN soft pinks will also be on trend in 2024, so if you are partial to a subtler, pastel or more earthy tone there will be some other pinks on offer this year. This includes the Peak Women Dusty Rose Confidence Blazer that will be available in Quarter 2 of 2024. Similar to purple, pink as a fashion colour used to be reserved for powerful men at the royal court however in the late 1900s it transitioned to have more feminine connotations and the power behind the colour was softened. In the 21st century we are seeing the transition of pink back to more of a gender neutral colour with many companies including it their branding or celebrities of any gender wearing it on the red carpet. The Barbie-Core movement also saw the colour regain some of its previous powerful connotations and will be linked to the gender equality movement for years to come.
Timeless Checks
Timeless checks as a 2024 trend seems obvious when the trend has the word ‘timeless’ in it. It should be on trend all the time right!? Well we think so, we love a check. There is something so chic about a check that it just seems to elevate any style of clothing. Checks always work well with classic corporate styles including blazers, trousers, vests and we could go on. Fine line checks such as Checkerboard or Prince of Wales Checks will be popular in 2024. Usually seen in subtle colours such as different shades of grey, the fine lines within the check allow for bright pops of colour that aren’t too bold. For those looking to elevate their corporate style without introducing bright colours and bold prints just yet, checks is always on trend and professional so consider it a
wardrobe staple that will outlast the seasons regardless of what the style gurus say.
Modern Academia
According to WGSN.com Paris Fashion Week showed Modern Academia as a key style for 2024 with preppy references including strong collars, oversized blazers and fitted trousers. From our previous article on the history of the blazer, we know that blazers were first introduced through academic sporting teams so blazers are not only a must have in a corporate wardrobe but fit this trend seamlessly. The Academia trend oozes sophistication and confidence and can include dark florals and lots of checks. Given some of the other trends mentioned above, of course academia is a trend for 2024. This also makes it easier to be on trend without trying to meet too many different styles.
How to add trends to your corporate style without losing your sense of self.
Not all trends are for everyone, so don’t feel pressured to get on every trend bandwagon that rumbles past. In our busy lives and current cost of living crisis nobody has the time or the money for that. Instead go through your wardrobe and see what you already have that you could re-introduce to your regular rotation or clothes. (Don’t worry we are all guilty of having certain items on repeat.) Trends repeat and when it comes to patterns and corporate styles usually more often than the standard 20 year miniskirt revival. Trends also last a little longer than the fast fashion companies want us to realise. Just because it was in last month doesn’t mean that you can’t keep wearing it, there is potential though that some items have already found their way into second hand shops or online areas like Facebook marketplace.
The most important thing to remember when shopping for trends is that you need to feel amazing in it. Just because it’s a trend doesn’t mean you should fill your wardrobe with that particular style or colour. When corporate dressing, the main aim is to find what items, colours or patterns boost your confidence and make you feel empowered. Pay attention to your body language and facial expressions when trying clothes on. If you are standing up straight, smiling or giving yourself that ‘you talking to me’ look in the mirror than it is highly likely this style will give you that boost of confidence in the workplace. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t buy it or wear it just because it is on trend, trends actually a lot less in the workplace as long as you are dressed professionally and comfortably. The design concept behind our Peak Women Confidence Blazer are focused on comfort, practicality and of course confidence building.
